The kids first vacation of the summer

Well summer is officially here! As soon as school was out we headed down to L.A. (Lower Alabama) for some fun with the family. We packed everything the kids owned because when we were ready to leave on Sunday, we would be leaving without our kids.
Yes, our kids stayed down with Nana and Papa for 2 full weeks of fun at the fishing camp. Over Memorial Day weekend we were all there with Uncle Lorin, Aunt Angela and the boys too. Michael and I left out on Sunday to beat the traffic and have a day of down time before going back to work.
We certainly enjoyed our two weeks kidless. We had many date nights without worry about babysitters. It was just so quiet around the house. They do a week at a time normally every summer with the different grandparents, but this year we were given the option of 2 weeks and we took advantage of it! Thank you Nana & Papa! I hope you are getting lots of rest now.
The kids really had a great time fishing, playing at the sandbar, playing with some of the other kids around, playing many games of cards and just enjoying their time with Nana & Papa.
There was a terrible drowning at the sandbar one afternoon, luckily they were not there that day. It was a man with a family that were all there to witness it. I just pray that the mother/wife feels God's love surrounding her during this difficult time. I could not image the horror that she had to go through. After that happened, they did not go back to the sandbar anymore.
They all came back home last weekend in time for Brooke's baptism and now back to somewhat of a routine. I LOVE summertime now that the kids have gotten older. They are a bunch of nightowls though.
Brooke riding in the boat with Daddy to take it down to the landing to launch.
On the water finally and headed to the sandbar.
They love to play at the sandbar.
Nothing like good ole' river mud!
I did not get any of them after they got out swimming this time because they kept splashing our way.
Caleb and Logan playing CandyLand!
Brooke and Daddy down at the dock catching some bream. This girl loves to fish! She is better than her mama, because she baits her own hook, will touch the fish and she has even helped her Uncle Lorin scale and clean them before!
The lower part of the dock never got out of the water while we were there. The river was up the entire time. The kids did not mind playing in the water on that part though and were still catching fish on the other side!
Brooke and Cody splashing!

Brooke wanted wherever Papa was and to do whatever Papa was doing!
Catching some fish.
Logan finally enjoyed fishing on their last day at the camp. He doesn't care one bit about fishing with a pole, but once they gave him the ultra light rod 'n reel, he loved it and did not mind the heat!
Sweating...but Nana said he did not want to take his life jacket off or his shirt, he was too busy throwing that rod 'n reel! He did finally catch a bass, but it got off right at the boat.
