Last Sunday's Sermon

Sorry for those that wanted to see more pictures, go to the next post to see pictures. I was behind on posting last weeks sermon that I promised. It has been an excellent series so far and I hope that someone gets something out of it. The good thing is most of us still have young children, so there is still hope for us!!! For me anyhow, hahaha! Sorry again for the spacing. It is space right and then when I post it all goes one way. I tried to highlight to main points to make it a little easier to read.

What's Lost in Moms Raising Boys To Be Spiritual Leaders: Daniel 3:17-18

Moms and Dads: Models and Mentors - Col. 3:18-20

Moms - should be mentors to daughters and models to sons

Dads - should be mentors to sons and models to daughters

1. Mom, it is your responsibility to encourage your boys to be boys. Deut. 34:10-12

"Jochebed (Moses Mom) School For Moms" Heb. 11:23-24

"For a boy adventure and action should be the roadmap to manhood." Exodus 15:3

2. Mom, it is your responsibility to help your boys discover their calling. 1 Sam. 1:27-28

Steps to Helping Them Discover Their Calling:

1. Let them see God in you at a young age. (2:11)

2. Help them to discover the heart of God. (2:35)

3. Help them to discover to be sensitive to the voice of God. (3:10)

4. Remind them often that God's plan for them is incredible. (3:11)

5. Encourage them as their words and actions reveal the character of God. (3:19)

6. Seek confirmation by others of his spiritual growth. (3:20-21)

3. Mom, it is your responsibility to model before your boys the right girl. Proverbs 5:18-21

Principle #1 The Leave and Cleave Principle (Ephesians 5:31)

According to a book by Vickey Courtney: "Your Son", there are 5 kinds of Moms -

1. Little League Mom - he's always the best!

2. Lifeguard Mom - you are always saving him - this one will end up in jail one day!

3. Roller-Coaster Mom - always on an emotional rollercoaster with him

4. Personal Assistant Mom - the boy can't do anything for himself

5. Holy Spirit Mom

Principle #2 The girls are no evil priciple - Genesis 1:31 - moms quit telling the boys if something happens that girls are evil!

Principle #3 - The unequally yoked Principle (2 Cor. 6:14)

Principle #4 - The Is it really love Principle (1 Cor. 13:4-7)

4. Mom, it is your responsibility to instill the traits of a Godly man to your son. - Eph. 5:22-30

1. A Godly man should be a spiritual leader. (22-24)

2. A Godly man should be a spiritual lover (25)

3. A Godly man should be a spiritual learner. (26)

4. A Godly man should be a spiritual laborer. (27-30)
