Ok, vacation is over and we are all going through withdrawals! This was such a wonderful vacation for us. Brooke was old enough to do more with us, Logan was at least with us as a complete family. It was our first official family vacation since having Logan.
We could not have asked the kids to do better. We hardly ever had to get on to them for anything and there was little to no whinning involved!!!
We started out on Friday, Jan. 18th and drove to Adel to stay with Granny Bob. On Saturday we went over to Lorin's to get Michael's mom and dad, then we were off to Disney. It was just us four and Nana and Papa. We unpacked and headed out to just try all the different transportation around before dinner. Dinner was at the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk and it started to pour rain. We did get a little soaked that night because no one brought umbrella's. The next morning we found out there had been tornado warnings all around us.
Sunday, we headed off to Animal Kingdom. The kids enjoyed all the animals. Logan was not crazy about the safari ride much, so we took him on it again a couple days later and had him crying the entire ride! Logan was not feeling 100% when we got there on Saturday and he coughed all night every night for a few days. Even though he felt rotten, he still did great! We left the AK that afternoon and drove over to Fort Wilderness Lodge to have dinner at Wispering Canyon. This is by far my favorite non-character dining experience. Go in with a good sense of humor, because they will give you a hard time. If you ask for something like ketchup, they holler out and make whoever has ketchup at their table bring it to you. It is histerical and the kids loved it. Brooke got up to ride the stick horse around the restaraunt during the cowboy roundup.
Monday, off to Epcot. This was one exciting day! Ok I will go ahead and tell you...we ended up at the Lost and Found at the end of the day. Nana left her camera in the Talk with Crush from Nemo show, Michael lost his driver's license and $80 in cash. All was recovered at the Lost and Found including the $80 in cash! WOW! We went to Chef Mickey's for our first character dinner that night. The kids really enjoyed those characters and it was a great meal.
At Epcot, Brooke rode Mission Space (the more intense side with the spinning), Soarin', and Test Track and she loved all of them. Logan loved the Nemo ride, talking with Crush, the greenhouse ride in The Land, and just playing every where we were in lines. It was really windy that night when we left and Logan was already coughing. Once we got into the hotel and gave him his bath, I decided we needed to find the walk-in clinic and take him. Good thing we did, he ended up having bronchitis. We got back to the hotel about 12:30am and he never woke up the entire time he was at the clinic being checked out! They gave him an antibiotic for 7 days.
Tuesday, our frist day to Magic Kingdom and Logan on his way to feeling a little better. Brooke rode Thunder Mountain for the first time and fell in love!!! We took them both on Pirates of the Carribean and they liked that one ok too. We did Haunted Mansion and Logan did fine actually (he was sitting with me and Nana, counting the ghost's heads and eyes and saying our ABC's), Brooke did not like this one at all! We actually ended up riding almost everything (or everything that we thought the kids would enjoy), Brooke did not want to ride Dumbo this time (her favorite when she was 2), she said it was for small kids! Logan did not even ride it. He was not crazy about rides, but he managed.
While we went back to Thunder Mtn to ride, Logan had fallen asleep in the stroller so we left him with Papa. Poor Papa, Logan woke up and did not know where he was or where everyone was at. He went a little crazy on Papa and some lady tried helping him settle him down. He was fine when we got off the ride though! That night we ate at the Crystal Palace for the Pooh character dining. The kids loved this one too!
Wednesday, we went to Hollywood Studios (formally MGM). There is not as much to ride here, but we enjoyed some shows and we had lunch at Hollywood & Vines (character dining with JoJo Circus and Little Einsteins). That afternoon we went and saw the Light, Camera, Motion Stunt Show and Logan loved it. It was loud, fast, and a man's show, but we all ended up liking it. The kids played in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground and had a ball. After that Michael, Nana and myself went to get in line for Rockin' Roll a coaster. This was a long wait, but the kids were fine playing outside of it with Papa! We loved the ride.
Thursday, back to Magic Kingdom. We went to ToonTown first to let the kids meet some more characters. They seemed to like that. Later in the day it rained just a little while we dipped into a couple of rides to stay dry. We rode Buzz Lightyear twice because Logan seemed to really like that one. He also loved the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor comedy show, he kept talking about that one. We ate dinner at The Plaza Restaraunt off Main Street and it was really good. After that we got out to watch the light parade, but decided for myself, Michael, Nana and Brooke to take off to the back to ride Thunder Mtn again before the park closed. Logan and Papa stayed there and watched the parade then the fireworks. We made it to the ride after having to run all around the back of the park to get around the parade path. We were so tired by the time we reached it, but we ended up getting to ride 3 times before they shut it down for the night. Brooke was so much fun, and we got to see the fireworks while on the ride.
Friday, we went back to Epcot one final time to go through the World Showcase. We did our character lunch at The Garden Grill and rode a few of our favorite rides that morning before heading to the country's. The kids really enjoyed going through the country's too, they had Kidcot Fun Stop's throughout all the country's so they were able to get something and color. We saw a lot of different characters and princess' back there. We stayed for the firework show (this is the most awesome fireworks show around) at 9pm then headed out.
Logan did not have to go back to the room to take naps at all, when he got tired, he would want me to carry him. He would put his head on my shoulder and he was out within minutes. I was able to transfer him to the stroller and pick him back up to go on a ride or a show without him even waking. He was great! Brooke never asked for things throughout the stores, which made it so worthwhile too! I had bought them both 6 gifts each and Grandma & Papa John sent 4 gifts each for them to open in the hotel room in the mornings or night. So they ended up with 10 gifts each, so I let them open one in the morning and at night several days. This was so worth it, rather than spending so much money in the parks on those high prices. Best decision I made! Also, I recommend the Dining Plan, it was so worth it! We never pulled any cash out for anything! Well, I have more pictures to post from our last day at Epcot that I could not fit on the Montage above. I will get those downloaded soon, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy the others.
We had a blast and can't wait for the next trip (in about 5 years is our plan)!
